Is it really free?
Yes. Give an email address, download the studio, and use all of it. There is no card, no trial that lapses into a subscription, and no separate “pro” tier holding features back.
Are there any recurring costs at all?
The studio itself has none. The only ongoing cost is your own AI provider usage, which you pay the provider directly and control. See the API keys page for typical amounts.
What is the catch?
There isn’t one hiding in the pricing. The studio runs on your machine and the only money in the picture is what your AI provider charges you for what you use. The download asks for an email address so the link, and word of new versions, have somewhere to go.
How does it compare to Descript or CapCut?
